Long Point has claimed over 400 ships wrecked or sunk with their treasures lost or stolen, thus the moniker "Gold Coast" one of many names anointing the area over the centuries.

                                                                       Pottahawk is on Lake Erie, off of Turkey Point, just west of Port Dover

PottaHawk Point is located at the end of a Sand Spit that is part of Long Point Ontario, just off of Turkey Point, west of Port Dover.

The PottaHawk "Event" happens on the 2nd weekend in July, where boats of all types and description cruise out to the spit and anchor for the day or the weekend.

Occasionally PottaHawk has a barge is pulled out and a band plays while boaters exit their boats to walk in the shallow sandy shore. Going on shore is off limits as it is private property. As with all large gatherings of people there are those who like to party hard (although the police are always present) and those who just like the simple enjoyment of sun, sand, water and community of other boaters for a single clarifying day. PottaHawk is an event that started about 25 years ago.
